Dr. Garlitz graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1992, and went on to earn his doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. He has 18 years experience as a general dentist and has been in Columbia since 2007. In 2005, He completed  a prestigious, year-long dental implant continuum at the Triangle Dental Institute located in Durham,NC. He maintains active memberships with the American Dental Association , the South Carolina Dental Society , the Mid Carolina Dental Society and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists as well as taking several hours of continuing education annually to keep up with the latest procedures and technologies dentistry has to offer. Outside the office, Dr. Garlitz enjoys outdoor activities such as golf, biking, and spending time with family, his wife Libby and their four young children, Jack, Julia, Luke and Mary.
